Community Bank named new board members

Community Bank of the Chesapeake, headquarte­red in Waldorf, recently announced new additions to its board of directors.

Kim Briscoe-Tonic, James M. Burke, Gregory C. Cockerham and James F. Di Misa have joined the board. In addition, Burke was named president and chief risk officer of the Bank, William J. Pasenelli became vice chairman and CEO, and Christy Lombardi is now corporate secretary for both the bank and its parent company, The Community Financial Corporatio­n.

Briscoe-Tonic, along with her husband Anthony Tonic, own and operate the Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, with locations in Waldorf and Mechanicsv­ille. She founded the company with her husband in 2008. Burke has served as chief risk officer of the bank since 2005. In this role he has led the bank’s response to the credit challenges of a growing and changing bank. He is active in the community, serving on the boards of the ARC of Southern Maryland, St. Mary’s Ryken High School and Historic Sotterley.

Cockerham, executive vice president and chief lending officer, joined the Bank in 1988 and has served as chief lender for over 27 years. He currently serves as president of the Rotary Foundation Board of Charles County, past chairman of the College of Southern Maryland Foundation Board, past chairman of the Maryland Title Center Board and finance chairman of the Potomac Baptist Associatio­n.

Di Misa, executive vice president and chief operating officer, joined Community Bank in 2005. He is the chairman of the Maryland Banking School Trustees and serves on the College of Southern Maryland Foundation Board, the Ethics Commission for the Town of La Plata and Rotary Foundation Board of Charles County.

Pasenelli has been with the bank since 2000, serving as chief financial officer and president/CEO. He serves on the board of the Maryland Banker’s Associatio­n and the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.

Lombardi has been with Community Bank nearly 20 years. She currently serves as chairwoman of the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and on the Southern Maryland Workforce Developmen­t Board.
