Items stolen from sheds in Waldorf
Sometime between 4 p.m. Sept. 27 and 4:30 p.m. Sept. 28, an unknown suspect, or suspects, broke into several sheds near Timberbrook Drive and Lantern Lane in Waldorf. Investigation revealed that the suspects cut the locks and pried open the doors to get inside. Once inside, several items were stolen, including an ECHO String Trimmer, a Toro electric leaf blower, a Troy-Bilt gas hedge trimmer, a Troy-Bilt string trimmer, a DeWalt sawzall and a case containing several DeWalt drills and impact drivers. Officer C. Gustafson is investigating.
Waldorf townhouse destroyed by fire
At least two people were displaced after a two-story townhouse in Waldorf caught fire on Monday night, causing an estimated $310,000 in total damages, according to a release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Authorities have determined that the cause of the fire was accidental, and the occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Around 7:49 p.m. on Oct. 3, 35 firefighters from the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department and the surrounding areas responded to the 11200 block of Barnswallow Place and battled the flames for about one hour before it was under control, according to fire marshals. Preliminary investigation showed that the fire started in the kitchen after a pot was left unattended on a stove burner. The occupants were not home at the time, and the fire was discovered by a neighbor.
Authorities investigating office fire in Waldorf
Authorities are investigating a fire that caused minor damages to an office building in Waldorf on Monday morning, according to a release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Investigators found that the fire had multiple points of origin in the interior and exterior of the building, causing an estimated $1,000 in structural damage.
