Police say there were three separate fatal accidents over the weekend in Charles County: a driver crashed into a tree in Port Tobacco, a pedestrian was struck in La Plata and a bicyclist was struck in Waldorf.

In the Port Tobacco accident, Manuel Carlos Gonzales, 28, of Port Tobacco was killed in the single-vehicle collision.

Around 1:46 a.m. on Oct. 22, Maryland State Police troopers responded to the crash on Route 6 near the area of Retreat Place and found a man suffering from severe injuries, according to a news release. Preliminary investigation showed that Gonzales had failed to drive in a single lane as he traveled westbound on Route 6, and

drove across a driveway, sending his car airborne and into a tree.

Gonzalez was flown to a hospital with life- threatening injuries, and died the next day around 1: 15 a. m.

In the La Plata accident, the victim has been identified as Jeanmarie Howard Davis, 46, of La Plata.

Around 7: 59 p. m. on Oct. 23, troopers responded to a collision on U. S. 301 near Rosewick Road, police reported. Preliminary investigation showed that a man driving a Ford Expedition had been traveling north on U. S. 301 in a right turn lane where Davis was walking in the road. She was struck by the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.

And in the Waldorf accident, Marcus Dejuann Jones, 44, of Suitland was struck by a car and killed while riding a bicycle.

Around 9: 52 p. m. on Oct. 23, troopers responded to a collision on U. S. 301 near Sub- Station Road and found Jones, according to police. Preliminary investigation indicated that a man driving a Chevrolet Cruze was traveling northbound on U. S. 301 as Jones attempted to cross the street on a bicycle and was struck by the car. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate each accident. Anyone who may have witnessed any of these crashes is asked to contact the Maryland State Police La Plata barrack duty offifificer at 301- 392- 1200.
