An Indian Head man accused of sexually abusing a 7- year- old girl pleaded guilty on Monday in Charles County Circuit Court, and now awaits sentencing.

Held without bond since his apprehension in May, Delandre Bernard Rosier, 30, pleaded guilty to first- degree sexual offense, a charge which charges a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. Prosecutors say there was no agreement on the sentence they will seek.

On Nov. 11, 2015, deputies with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Pomfret for a report of sexual child abuse after the victim told family members Rosier had sexually abused her, charging documents state. Rosier was still at the residence when police arrived, but was able to escape on foot. Officers attempted to track him using a K- 9, but they were unable to locate him.

At the time, Rosier was also wanted on a warrant for three counts of second- degree assault for an incident in September and malicious destruction of property in an unrelated incident in October, court records show.

The victim was taken to the Center for Children for a forensic interview and spoke with detectives afterwards. She told investigators that Rosier had allegedly sexually abused her about 10 other times before the Nov. 11 incident, but she had not told anyone, court records indicate. Results from a medical examination corroborated the account the victim gave to detectives and another arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 2.

Police continued to search for the wanted man and asked for the public’s help in locating him in the following months.

Detectives tracked down and arrested Rosier at a residence in Fort Washington on May 12.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 20.
