SBDC offers legal, records biz course

-

The Small Business Development Center of the Southern Maryland Region has scheduled the two-evening “Legal and Records Management” workshop for Thursday, Feb 23, and Thursday, March 2, at the College of Southern Maryland La Plata Campus. Each session is 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The cost for the workshop is $80 and is recommended for all entrepreneurs and business owners, according to a news release.

The legal session is led by David Martinez, an attorney with the Jenkins Law Firm in La Plata. The class includes insights and tips about starting businesses, multiple owners and ongoing legalities in the business world.

Martinez has an extensive background in a wide array of local businesses and also has handled many presentations to the Charles County Liquor Board related to liquor licenses. He has also assisted many SBDC clients over the years.

The records management session is led by Tiffany Davis, owner of Washington Accounting Services Inc. in Waldorf. The session includes firsthand insights on keeping records of basic financial information, taxes and filings — the importance of keeping proper financial records. Her firm also provides services to several SBDC clients.
