Wilbur Owen Budd

Wilbur Owen Budd, 79, of Marbury, MD, went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2017 at Hospice of Charles County. He was born July 20, 1937 in Fort Foot, MD. Son of the late Daisey and Roy Budd Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert, Kenneth, James, Luther and Benny. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy; his son, Rodney married to Susan (Slaney) of Virginia Beach, VA; daughters: Cynthia Winters married to William Winters of LaPlata, MD; Alison Budd of LaPlata, MD; grandchildren: Derek, Shana, Brooke, Corey and C.J.; brothers: Roy (wife Lois); Lester (wife Mary); sister, Shirley Russell (husband Allen); and many nieces and nephews in the Southern Maryland area.

Wil served in the United States Air Force from August 1960 to August 1964. After leaving the Air Force, Wil was employed by Braniff International Airlines for most of his career and in 1978 he received the highest airline honor when he was selected as “Employee of the Year”. He later worked for Piedmont, and USAir Airlines. He furthered his career by working for the Depar tment of the Navy as a Police Officer and working for the Charles County Government as a Crossing Guard.

Wil enjoyed planting trees and flowers and working in the yard. Wil also enjoyed playing cards with friends and traveling. He settled into retirement spending time with family, friends, and grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, June 20 at the Williams Funeral Home, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 21 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.

Memorial contributions can be made to Indian Head Baptist Church or the Hospice of Charles County.
