Golf tournament
The 40th Southern Maryland Amateur Invitational Golf Tournament will be held June 23 to 25 at Breton Bay Golf and Country Club in Leonardtown.
The tournament, which is open to male amateur golfers, is a 54-hole stroke play event with four divisions: overall championship division, senior division (must have reached 55th birthday by June 23), super senior division (must have reached 65th birthday by June 23) and junior division (for golfers 18 and younger).
The cost is $125 for juniors, $175 for Breton Bay members and $225 for all others. Practice rounds, which cost $35, are available after 2 p.m. June 17 and 18. Call the pro shop at 301-4752300 to make a tee time.

Touchdowns Against Cancer
In support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Chopticon High School football team has joined Touchdowns Against Cancer 2017.
Touchdowns Against Cancer is the team’s way of helping the 16,000 children and adolescents who will be diagnosed with cancer this year.
The team is challenging fans to pledge for every touchdown it scores from Sept. 14 to 30 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A onetime donation can be made.

Youth sports videos
Charles County Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism has released a three-part video series titled, “The Rules: A Guide to Youth Sports.”
The three videos discuss the organization’s code of conduct, the impact of youth sports coaches and basic basketball rules. The videos are available online atwww. Charles County Parks. com/ Recreation/ Indoor-Sports.
The introductory code of conduct video is for parents and caregivers of children participating in youth sports. The video outlines standards for participating in all our sports programs to allow children to have a positive and rewarding experience. The code of conduct is based on sportsmanship and fair play.
The coaching video outlines benefits of becoming a youth coach, the steps of becoming a volunteer coach and the expectations for coaches.
