Mrs. Phyllis Sue Irvine-Guilford, 85, of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of Warrlinda Village La Plata, MD, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Sturgill Hospice Care Center in Brooksvill­e, FL.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 12 at Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in North Wilkesboro, NC, with Rev. Joel Blevins officiatin­g. Entombment will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

Mrs. Guilford was born April 29, 1932 in Wilkes County to Charles and Estelle Wood. She was known for opening her home to teenagers whom all loved her and called her “Granny”. She was a former employee of Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge and was a member of the Moose Club and Shriner’s Club. She also enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and playing bridge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Dan Irvine; second husband John Guilford; sons: Danny Irvine; Randy Irvine; nephew: Mark Wooten; and brother, Bobby Wood.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hardy and husband Robert of Spring Hill, FL; one sister, Sheilah Conway and husband Joel of Moravian Falls, NC; one brother, Gerald Wood and wife Deena of Wilkesboro, NC; and four nephews: Kevin Wood and Westley Wood, both of North Wilkesboro, NC; Jim Wood and Jerry Wood, both of Phoenix, AZ.
