William (Bill) Thrift

Bill Thrift, 64, of The Villages, FL (formerly of Waldorf, MD) passed away on June 26, 2017. He worked for UPS and then retired from the U.S. Naval Academy 2013. He enjoyed coaching and umpiring girl’s softball and served as president of the Waldorf National Little League.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters: Carrie (James); Danielle (Lee) Thrift; brothers: Ray (Carmen) Thrift; John (Sheila) Thrift; and Ken (Sharlene) Monier.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held Sunday, August 13th, 2-4 p.m., at the Bryans Road VFD, 3099 Livingston Road, Bryans Road, MD.

Memorials in Bill’s name may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the American Diabetes Associatio­n.

George S. Williams

George S. Williams, 93, passed on Monday, August 7, 2017 of Port Tobacco. Viewing: 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Mass: 10 a.m. Sacred Heart Church, LaPlata, MD. Interment, St. Catherine’s Church, McConchie, MD.

Patricia Ann Vance

WALDORF — Patricia Ann “Pat” Vance, 62, of Waldorf, MD, died August 6, 2017. Wife of James R. Brown and mother of Katharine A. Vance.

Friends received on Tuesday, August 15, from 1:30 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 3 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Chapel in La Plata, MD.

Edward Lee Overton

Edward Lee Overton of Waldorf, MD, died on August 7, 2017. Born on Jan. 27, 1944 in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of the late Katherine Green and Robert Overton.

Fondly known as “Ed” and “Eddie”, Mr. Overton served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam before being Honorably Discharged. He then worked for METRO in Washington, DC, and served as a Station Manager. Ed was an avid Washington Redskins fan and would visit Wal-Mart, Lowe’s and Home Depot on occasion. He was a collector of a variety of articles but his greatest joy was being with his grandchild­ren.

He is sur vived by his wife of 50 years, Charlene Overton; his daughters: Melissa Overton; Melinda Ann Drumm and her husband Francis; brother, Raymond Overton; grandchild­ren: Matthew Long Jr., Kayla Stark, Korey Hamlet, Aidan Drumm; one great granddaugh­ter “on the way”, Meadow.

Service and interment will be held at Powell Valley Cemetery in La Follett, TN.

Robert T. “Bob” Rehovich

Robert T. “Bob” Rehovich, 78, of La Plata, MD, died August 9, 2017. Husband of Mildred Rehovich and father of Renee Van Cleaf.

Friends received on Tuesday, August 15, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata, MD. Interment to follow in church cemetery.

Earle Hamilton Shegogue

Earle Hamilton Shegogue, 92, of White Plains, MD, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017.

He is survived by his companion, Virginia Price of La Plata, MD, and his children: George and Sandy Shegogue of Bel Alton, MD; Millie Paranich (Ron) of Huntersvil­le, NC; Deborah Allen (Scott) of Lillian, AL; Patricia Bennett (Bob) of Sparks, MD; Vicki Posey (Bernie) of Marietta, GA; Rick Aubel (Nadine) of Conway, SC; his sister, Helen Fullerton of VA; numerous grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15 at Raymond Funeral Home, 5635 Washington Ave., La Plata, MD 20646 and on Wednesday, August 16, from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. followed by a Celebratio­n of Life service, 10 a.m. at New Life Church, 9690 Shepherds Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646.

Interment will follow services at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensbur­g Road, Brentwood, MD.

Jean Sultzer

On August 1, 2017 of Fort Washington, MD, wife of 56 years, the late William Sultzer, surviving are three sons: William Jr. (Catherine); Timothy Sr. (Cher yl); David (Sheila); four grandchild­ren: Chantel, Francesca, Timothy Jr., Terrell; two great-grandchild­ren: Aliya; Trinity; three siblings preceded her in death (Lorraine, Margaret “Peggy” and Lilian), while one sibling remains, Jerome Jr. to cherish her memory. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her Assumption Church Family to hold dear her memor y.

Her viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 14th, Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, 3401 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, S.E., Washington, D.C. 20032. Interment at MD Veterans Cemeter y, Cheltenham, MD.
