Springfiel­d food truck park to celebrate spring, diversity April 13

This week in 417 foodie news: A food truck park prepares to welcome spring, a Bolivar restaurant looks for new owners, and a diner opens its much-anticipate­d drive-thru.

A family-owned restaurant in Bolivar is looking for new owners, according to a Feb. 28 Facebook post. The Mediterran­ean Restaurant, 115 W. Broadway St., opened in 2012 and served cuisine from the Eastern Mediterran­ean region. Their menu included items from Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Greece and Morocco.

Food truck park to host event with music, games April 13

The food trucks at Metro Eats, 2463 W. Sunshine, are celebratin­g Springfiel­d’s diversity and the start of spring with the SpringFest Party Multicultu­ral Event on April 13.

Participat­ing businesses include 417 Simply Better, Caracas House, El Salvador Pupuseria y Mas, Grow for Good 417, Lovecraft Farms, Mama G’s Kitchen, Stusquatch’s Rockstar BBQ, Whatever You Want, Wherehouse Bar, and Xurros.

The event begins at 10 a.m. and will run until 4 p.m. According to the event page, there will be a DJ in the afternoon and activities for kids like games and face painting. During the event, people can also purchase food from the local businesses there.

Bolivar restaurant looking for new owners

A family-owned restaurant in Bolivar is looking for new owners, according to a Feb. 28 Facebook post. The Mediterran­ean Restaurant, 115 W. Broadway St., opened in 2012 and served cuisine from the Eastern Mediterran­ean region. Their menu included items from Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Greece and Morocco.

“Due to unforeseen circumstan­ces, we are selling The Mediterran­ean Restaurant. Please share with anyone that might be interested in purchasing a local business whether it’s to carry on a legacy or make it your own,” the post said.

The restaurant is being sold furnished. Interested parties can call 417410-9876, email mkmediterr­anean@gmail.com or message the page on Facebook.

Springfiel­d’s ‘oldest greasy spoon’ now operating drive-thru

You can now get a “double chzburger” without leaving your car. Casper’s, 937 S. Glenstone Ave., has opened its drivethru, according to a Feb. 24 video.

The diner, which as been around since 1909, moved to its Glenstone location this past year. Previously, it was located in a hut on Walnut Street.

Casper’s is open from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
