Family Art & Play
Family Art & Play is for children ages 3-7 along with an adult and will be held on Saturdays, Oct. 30 - Nov. 20 from 10-11 a.m. at the Springfield Museum of
Art. Explore playful ways to engage children in the museum’s galleries as well as sensory, open ended art in the studio and park while spending quality time together. Be prepared to do art in the park at each class. The session will be led by Amy Korpieski and is held in partnership with the National Trail Parks and Recreation District. Happy, Merry, Recycling
Happy, Merry, Recycling is for ages 10 and older and will be held on Thursday, November 4 from 6-7 p.m. at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Administration Building. As the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays approach, “Happy, Merry, Recycling” is a program that provides information and ideas on how to manage the additional waste products generated during the holiday season. Attendees will learn how to apply the 3 R’s to holiday waste to ensure it is managed in an environmentally sound way. Have the opportunity to make a 3 R’s holiday craft during this free program.
This program is held in partnership with the

Fool Tom the Turkey
Fool Tom the Turkey is back this year and will test your knowledge about wild turkeys during this fun family activity. Tom the Turkey will be featured at Snyder Park on Nov. 2-7 and will be hiding in five different locations at Snyder Park and will ask questions to try and fool you. Submit your answers by email to nationaltrail@ springfiledohio.gov. Each correct answer counts as an entry into a drawing for the chance to win a gift certificate from Bowman and Landes Turkeys. Nov.914 Tom the Turkey will be at Smith Park in New Carlisle and Nov. 16-20 at Old Reid Park. The sponsor of Fool Tom the Turkey is Bowman and Landes Turkeys. Pilates Fitness
A six-week fall session of Pilates will be held on Wednesdays beginning Nov. 3 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Administration Building. Strengthen and tone muscles, build strength, flexibility and balance through this low-impact class. The registration fee is $45 and the deadline to register is October 27. Thanksgiving Shoebox Parade Float Entry
Enter the second annual Thanksgiving Shoebox Parade. You can enter as a family, business, organization, or individual. Create a float using a shoebox or something similar and drop it off at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Administration Building by Nov. 12. Your float will be pulled along our road and city backdrop while the parade announcers read its description, just like in our favorite holiday parades. The parade will be aired on the NTPRD Facebook page Thanksgiving morning. Go to ntprd.org to find rules and regulations before submitting your float. For more information call 937328-7275.
Trail Hikers
Trail Hikers is held on Wednesdays from 9-10 a.m. The first, third and fifth Wednesday of the month is held at Rebert Pike Nature Park and at the Kirby Preserve on the second and fourth weeks. These guided, self-paced hikes allow you to explore and enjoy our local natural environment. These trails are all natural so be sure to wear your hiking boots. Trail Walkers
Trail Walkers is open to adults ages 18 and older and held on Tuesdays from 9-10 am. The walk on Nov. 2 will be held on the Simon Kenton Trail and meeting at Splash Zone Waterpark. Trail Walkers is a walking program which highlights the multi-purpose trail system while promoting fitness, fellowship and fun.
