Kasser has earned re-election
To the editor,
Some observations about sate Sen. Alex Kasser, D-Greenwich, Stamford, New Canaan. She speaks truth, pays attention to facts and sets a high bar for character and integrity. She supports the institutions democracy has put in place that make government work.
She voices her opinions in a demeanor demonstrating that she has done her homework and commonsense thinking. Her strong respect for law enforcement, the free press, public education, election officials and our election process is evident. She meets the need for change headon and accepts today’s increasingly diverse population and its complexities. Examples are her efforts to make voting easier, making common sense changes to our domestic violence laws, improving equitable education funding and raising funds from out-of-state vehicles driving through Connecticut to upgrade and sustain Connecticut infrastructure.
She does her legislative work without threatening the foundations of our functioning democracy. Her example of respectful conduct and civility shores up people’s respect for the foundations of our functioning democracy. Her example is healing at a time when many, daily, threaten or ignore civility, overtly dismiss settled knowledge, especially settled science, and inflame mistrust in solid democratic institutions.
Senator Kasser sets a refreshing example different from shallow politicians who outwardly try to damage people’s faith in our fundamental institutions with their invective innuendo and repetitive conspiracy theories.
Our democratic institutions, populated by good representatives such as Senator Kasser, give people a voice in the information we receive, the laws we pass and the money we spend. Thank you, Alex, for your character, integrity and focus on the greater good. You have earned the right to be re-elected. May your example inspire others.
