Angela Lacerenza

-

Angela “Chickie” Lacerenza, a lifelong Stamford resident, passed away peacefully from natural causes January 7th, 2021 with her family at her side. She was 89 years old.

Angela was born in Stamford on September 1, 1931, the youngest of five children born to the late Vincenza Passaro and Louis E. Tosches. She was predeceased in 2015 by her husband of over sixty years, Richard D. Lacerenza.

Angela graduated from Stamford High School in 1949 and from the University of Bridgeport School of Nursing in 1953. She worked for several years as a Registered Nurse at Greenwich Hospital before starting a family.

Angela and Richard met during high school and married in 1955. Throughout their lives, she supported Richard and the family’s Stamford business, Lacerenza Funeral Home, even holding a Connecticut Funeral Director’s license until Richard’s death in 2015. The business is still operating under the direction of the family’s fourth generation members, now nearing its 100th anniversary.

Angela was a true matriarch in every sense of the word. Her family meant everything to her. She kept a loving, welcoming homestead for them all her life.

Her family and many close friends remember vacations in New Hampshire and Florida; endless summer days at the pool and weekly Sunday dinners.

Angela was a past president of the Rosary Altar Society of Sacred Heart Church. She was an avid golfer for many years, past-President and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of both the Hubbard Heights and Sterling Farms Women’s Golf Associations. Her hole-in-one on Hubbard Heights’ 9th hole in the late 1980s was celebrated with her being awarded a golden putter from her friends which she kept all her life.

Angela is survived by her four daughters, Patti Robustelli and her husband Bob Robustelli, Sally Macari and her husband Michael Macari, Toni Lacerenza (Michael Diot) and Tracey Lacerenza. 14 grandchildren, Richard Macari (wife Mady), Jenna Cingari (husband Tom), Kristen Delmonico (husband Barry), Jerry Macari (wife Amy),

Angela is also survived by her brother Carmine Tosches; step grandchildren Luke Robustelli (Kristen), Amanda Price (Jason), step great-grandchildren Chase, Reese and Owen, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Michael Tosches, Louis Tosches, her sister Justine “Jay” Arcano and sister-in-law Sally Ann Geremia.

Angela was blessed in her later life to have the care and support of aides Natia Bolkvadze and Leila Gabaraeva who became as family through their love and dedication to her.

“Chickie” will be remembered lovingly by everyone she touched and the many friends she and Richard enjoyed over the years.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday January 11, 2021 at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Church, Schuyler Avenue in Stamford. Social distancing regulations will be observed, and masks will be required for all in attendance. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery Mausoleum in Darien.
