Mary M. Caruso

Mary M. Tumillo Caruso, 88, a life-long resident of Stamford, CT, passed away on January 13th, 2021 peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her children and grandchildren.

Mary was born on April 13th, 1932 in Stamford, CT. She is the daughter of the late Margaret Rello Tummillo and Nicholas Tummillo.

Mary worked as a paraeducated at Newfield School for many years and was an active member of The Columbiettes of St. Augustine, AARP, and St. Mary’s Seniors. She also enjoyed to bowl, paint, play bocci, and above all spend time with her family.

Mary is survived by her children; Donna Caruso-Cutugno, Nicholas F. Caruso and wife Doreen Caruso, Felix (Phil) Caruso Jr. and his wife Kimberly Caruso, Mary Caruso, her brother Joseph Tummillo and wife Mary, and her 8 grandchildren that were the light in her life. She is also survived by her lifelong best friend, Marie-Minnie Zezima, who she considered a sister.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Felix C. Caruso Sr. and her son Thomas Joseph Caruso.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien.
