Harriett Rubin Sherman,

89, passed away at her home suddenly on January 13, 2021. Her love and devotion to her family, her intellect, curiosity, generosity, and sincere caring for others made her well loved and impactful on all whose lives she touched.

Harriett was born in Brockton, MA to the late I. Manuel and Anna Rubin. She was the youngest of four sisters, Miriam Snider and Charlotte Rothman who predecease­d her, and Marjorie Abramson. She attended Northfield School for Girls, now Northfield Mount Herman, for high school, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1949. She graduated Pembroke College (now Brown University) in 1952, earning acceptance to the Phi Beta Kappa Society. In 1954, she married the love of her life, the late Michael S. Sherman of Stamford, who was her devoted and beloved husband until his death in 2015. She leaves behind her loving children, Jennifer Torbick of Norwalk, Joseph Sherman of Natick, MA, and Pamela Lesser (Steven) of Wayland, MA. In addition to her children, she leaves behind her grandchild­ren Alexandra Torbick (Jennifer), Davi and Kayla Sherman (Joseph), and Daniel, Sophia, and Anna (Pamela).

A private graveside service was held on Friday, January 15. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Boston (jfcsboston.org), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org), or Temple Sinai (templesina­istamford.org).
