Mabbu “Prabhu” Prabhudas

-

Mabbu Prabhudas passed away of a chronic lung condition on January 14, 2021 at his home of thirty-five years in Stamford, Connecticut.

Prabhu was born on March 4, 1944 to Mabbu Samuel and Kotamma in the city of Hubli, Karnataka state, India. After high school, Prabhu joined a group of Christian Missionaries from England, working with leprosy patients. Following that, he attended the Christian Medical College in Vellore, graduating with a degree in Physical Therapy.

In 1978 Prabhu immigrated to the United States, where he took his degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Connecticut at Storrs. His professional pride and joy was ownership of the Connecticut Therapeutic Center, a freestanding Medicare-certified rehabilitation center. Prabhu was happiest when he used his many therapy skills to relieve the pain of others. He also helped people during his long membership in the Rotary Club of Stamford.

In his leisure time, Prabhu enjoyed playing golf and tennis and loved to travel. In recent years, he and Jayne, his wife of 34 years, joined the flock of snowbirds spending the winter in Florida.

Prabhu is survived by Jayne, his son, Sunil, who lives in India, his sister Martha, his brother Anand as well as many nieces and nephews. All will miss his sweet and gentle nature and his generosity of heart.

On Tuesday, January 19th there will be a graveside service at the Woodlands Cemetery at 11:30 followed by a reception at home at 44 Strawberry Hill Avenue from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friends are invited to come and reminisce and remember him.
