Italo “Tom” Tamborino, age 90, a longtime Stamford resident, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021. Tom was born in Stamford, CT on July 30, 1930 to the late Frank and Philomena Tamborino. Tom was a Corporal in the United States Army and received many accolades and medals including a Korea Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. He served as a Paratroope­r and cook which is where he found his love of cooking. He was also a proud Stamford Firefighte­r and retired in 1978. Tom never stopped giving back and at age 75 he volunteere­d to go to New Orleans and work with the Red Cross for two weeks to help with the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort. Tom was predecease­d by his wife of 69 years and the love of his life, Lena Tamborino. He was also predecease­d by his sister Mary Zoppi and his brother Anthony Tamborino. He treasured the time he spent with Lena which included traveling to Florida every year and going to the casino. He also loved spending time with and cooking for his family. He is survived by his three loving children, Frank and his wife Anne of Stamford, his son Mario and his wife Linda of Stamford and his daughter Cheryl of Milford as well as his adoring grandchild­ren, Kelley Brown and her husband Stephen of Trumbull, Stefanie, Anthony and Mario Tamborino. He had two great-grandchild­ren, Caroline and C.A. Brown who brought him so much happiness. Also surviving are his brother Frank Tamborino of Stamford, his brother Paul and his wife Barbara of Florida and his brother John of North Carolina. Along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
