Miller ‘a fierce advocate’

- Moira Collins Stamford

As a Stamford resident and business leader, I support Pat Billie Miller for state senator.

The trajectory of Pat’s life has been in service to others. As the oldest of seven children, she cared for her younger siblings. In high school, she was active in community service. Throughout her professional career, she has served the most vulnerable.

And for more than 10 years, she has represented Stamford in the state Legislature where she has worked on critical issues from increasing the minimum wage, passing gun safety laws, paid family and medical leave, economic opportunity for women and small businesses and, protecting green jobs and the environment.

Now Pat is seeking the state Senate where she can serve the public on a greater scale. Her experience and achievement have prepared her for this role.

As a member of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC), I have seen first-hand Pat’s commitment to women owned businesses, especially those owned and operated by women of color. Pat has been a champion of women and families throughout her career. So much so that in 2019 WBDC named an annual award in her honor, The Patricia Billie Miller Award for Outstanding Community Service. The award is presented annually to a WBDC volunteer — an individual whose dedication inspires others to achieve their dreams, and exhibits a passion for, and commitment to, women-emblematic of Pat’s life’s work. Recognizing her leadership, vision, and uncompromising integrity in serving this city for decades, the award creates a well-deserved legacy and acknowledgment for years to come of her impact not only in Stamford, but throughout the state.

Reluctant to be in the spotlight, she is known to be a fierce advocate for her constituents and a reliable consensus builder in the legislature, never comprising on her principles. Pat will bring to the state Senate the same integrity and passion for those she serves.

Let’s put another woman in office on March 2!
