Donald C. Peterson,

68, of Stamford, CT and Longboat Key, FL, lost his courageous, hard-fought battle with colorectal cancer on October 13, 2022, at his home on Longboat Key. Born in Stamford to the late Paul G. Peterson and Agnes (Doherty) Peterson, Don attended Catholic High School (class of 1972) where he met his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Agnes (Szilagyi) Peterson. Don served in the Stamford Police Department for seven years before joining his father-in-law’s engineering firm. He earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering after attending night school and went on to found the consulting engineering firms Collective Design Associates and the Peterson Engineering Group. Don was a thoughtful and successful engineer, and his work can be found in buildings throughout the east coast. A lover of both the sky and sea, Don was a certified pilot and scuba diver, and a skilled sailor. He was an avid skier, a lover of music and Aikido, a world traveler, and spoke and understood several languages. Among these many accomplishments, he was the most proud of his wife, Agi, and his daughter, Corey, who will both sorely miss his wit, humor, intellect, handiness, curiosity, and love. Don is survived by his adoring mother-in-law, Klara (Horvath) Szilagyi; six beloved siblings, Paul (Teresa) Peterson, Gary (Carol) Peterson, Kim (Kenneth) Sabatino, Thomas (Karen) Peterson, Terri (Eamon) O’Connor, and Sharon (Brendan) Bannon; future son-in-law, Derek Weinroth; and 13 cherished nieces and nephews, several godchildren, many cousins, and countless friends.

A celebration of life will be held in November. Details concerning the event may be found via this website: https://www.eventcreate. com/e/donaldpeterson
