Gary Rosen

October 19, 1950 - January 28, 2023

-

We are sad to announce that a great man was lost on January 28, 2023. Gary Rosen, 72, of Wilton, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife and two daughters.

Gary was born in the Bronx, NY, on October 19, 1950, to Charlotte Goldberg Rosen and Walter Rosen. At an early age, Gary’s parents moved to Larchmont, NY, where he graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1968. It was there that he met his fellow graduate and future wife, Patricia (Byron) Rosen. Gary attended SUNY Farmingdale, where he majored in Photographic Technology. After working as both a portrait and commercial photographer, he partnered with his father to own and operate Prime Wines & Liquors in Little Neck, Queens. A few years after Gabrielle was born, Pat and Gary decided to move to Norwalk, CT, followed by Wilton, CT, where he resided until his death.

Gary went back to school and earned a degree at the College of New Rochelle, then began his corporate career. After working at Thompson CSF & Pitney Bowes, he went on to become Vice President and Global Head of Corporate Procurement at Lehman Brothers, which ultimately became Barclays Investment Bank. Gary retired from Barclays in 2016.

Besides his love of photography, Gary enjoyed anything to do with astronomy; books, movies and documentaries. He was also an avid camper. Alongside Pat, he transitioned from tent-camping to owning an RV, in recent years. He loved staying active in the RV community, both in person and online. In 2008, after

Gary’s Cholangiocarcinoma diagnosis, he became active in that community as well. His strength and endurance served as an inspiration to other Cholangio patients. He spent many hours on the phone sharing his experiences and offering hope to the newly diagnosed. However, Gary was most proud of his daughters, Gaby and Jess. He raised them to be independent, caring and loving people, each successful in their chosen professions.

Gary is survived by, and will be terribly missed by, his high school sweetheart and wife of almost 48 years, Patricia Rosen, as well as daughters, Gabrielle and Jessica Rosen. In addition, he leaves behind innumerable family members and friends, whom he loved dearly.

At Gary’s request, there will be no formal service. However, before he passed, Gary asked that interested parties donate in his memory to Cycle for Survival; 100% of money raised is spent on research into finding cures for rare cancers.
