12 restaurants and caterers serving Passover food
Passover, known in Hebrew as pesach, begins next week and many Connecticut stores and restaurants are offering to cook for people’s Seder, the feast that takes place on first nights of Passover. For those who need takeout items or prefer to dine out on the holiday, there are plenty of eateries around the state with special Passover menus and kosher meals. Here are some options for those celebrating the holiday, which runs from April 5 to April 13.
Max Catering & Events, Hartford
Max Restaurant Group is catering Seders for people in the Hartford area. Orders must be placed by Friday, March 31, at noon and can be picked up at Savoy Pizzeria in West Hartford or at Max Fish in Glastonbury. Customers can also pay $50 to have their meals delivered on Wednesday, April 5 from noon to 3 p.m., but their addresses must be located within 20 miles of Hartford.
Stew Leonard’s, Danbury, Newington, Norwalk
The supermarket chain’s turkey and brisket Passover dinners serve eight people at $22 per person. The menus includes vegetables from Stew’s produce department, including asparagus and green beans. The beef brisket dinner for eight also comes with 16 potato pancakes, a choice of two sides and one box of matzo.
Chabad Lubavitch, Litchfield
The Chabad Lubavitch of Northwest CT is offering to cater Passover dinners for customers 24 to 48 hours prior to the holiday and is also hosting Seder on the Green events on the evenings of Wednesday, April 5 and Thursday, April 6. The Passover menu consists of an array of fish, pies, soups and Seder simanim.
Fire by Forge, Hartford
The restaurant and catering service’s
Passover meals serve four to six people. Customers can choose either a whole herb grilled chicken or Impossible meatloaf with a side of smashed potatoes, spring vegetables, arugula salad and matzo ball soup. Packages also come with charoset, hard-boiled eggs with salted water, pickled beet horseradish and celery sticks and parsley as well as coconut macaroons.
Rye Ridge Deli, Stamford, Westport, Rye Brook
Customers can either order items from its Passover menu within the restaurant or have their meal delivered. The restaurant is offering all the items necessary for Seder including gefilte fish loaves, matzo,

Garelick & Herbs, Southport, Greenwich
The marketplace has a long list of soups, starters, meats and desserts for Passover dinner this year. All orders must be placed by Monday, April 3 and meals will be available for pick-up on Wednesday, April 5 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Aux Delices, Darien, Riverside, Greenwich, Westport
The grocery store chain is offering to cater Passover meals either via pick-up or delivery. Its menu includes brunch items like Passover granola and caramelized apple matzo brei as well as all the necessary food items for Seder. Orders must be placed by Monday, April 3 at 5 p.m.
Balducci’s, Greenwich, Westport
The food market’s Passover menu offers a vast array of fish, chicken, brisket, sides and desserts as well as custom dinner packages for six people. Customers must order meals at least 24 hours beforehand and can be picked up or delivered.
Herbaceous Catering, Bridgeport
Various items like caramelized onion brisket, raspberry mustard glazed steelhead trout and vegan matzo ball soup are available for delivery on April 4.
Ani’s Table, Various CT locations
For Easter and Passover, Ani’s Table is offering “Brunch Boxes” for four people that include gravlax, sourdough bagels, creme fraiche and yogurt parfaits. The order deadline is Monday, April 3.
Rein’s New York Style Deli, Vernon
The Jewish deli’s Passover menu includes a brisket dinner or salmon dinner with vegetable-matzo kugel and a salad. Customers can enjoy their meal in the restaurant or order for takeout. For dessert, the bakery offers macaroons, a seven-layer cake and rugealach.
Ladle and Loaf, New Haven
While the restaurant is closed for all of Passover, it is offering special kosher meals on the days leading up to the holiday, owner Benny Lieblich said. On Sunday, April 2, it will have a fish menu with beer-battered fish po’boys and fish and chips. On Tuesday, it will serve beef and chicken tacos and burritos and on Wednesday, it will offer Chinese cuisine like chicken noodle soup, Asian ginger hot wings and garlic beef.
