Stuck at home? Stamford families can enjoy two free concerts for kids.

- Staff reports

STAMFORD — Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County is presenting two free concerts as a gift to children and families who are stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

Both singers will be performing from their own homes — and families can interact with the singers by text while they perform.

“Our hearts are with the families of young children who are at home for the long-haul, homeschooling, playing and seeing friends on Zoom,” said Marc E. Jaffe, chief executive officer of Stamford-based Children’s Learning Centers. “We wanted to give children and their parents a special treat to look forward to — two happy concerts to sing and dance and move around. We love our children and we miss all of them being with us.”

The first concert, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 16 on Instagram, will feature Sonia De Los Santos, a bilingual singer and Latin Grammy-nominated artist who has been recognized by Billboard for the “Best Latin Kids Music.”

“We’re delighted to host Sonia to celebrate the diversity of our students and families — 65 percent of whom are Hispanic,” Jaffe said. “Her warm, engaging style is sure to be enjoyed by all children and families.”

The second concert, which will take place at 10 a.m. May 23 on Facebook, will display the talents of Laurie Berkner, a famed singer, songwriter and children’s book author.

“We are fortunate that Laurie has agreed to sing for children on behalf of CLC,” Jaffe said.

Parents who post a photo of children dancing with the hashtag #dancingkids and tag #funkymonkeyct have a chance to win a prize from Greenwichbased Funky Monkey Toys and Books store. Gifts are designed for children 5 and under for this concert.
