KEEP AN EYE ON

Big issues: USC is led by the Mobley brothers: freshman Evan, a 7-footer and likely 2021 NBA lottery pick, and older brother Isaiah, a 6-10 sophomore averaging 11.3 rebounds per game. Add second-leading scorer Drew Peterson, a 6-8 guard, and a trio of players 6-9 or taller off the bench, and the Trojans boast size the Huskies have yet to face — and may not face again this season.

Carlton fits? If the Huskies go with a bigger lineup, that could open the door for Josh Carlton to finally log some minutes. The 6-foot-11 senior, who had started 66 straight games entering the season, saw just three minutes off the bench in UConn’s season-opening win over Central Connecticut, then spent all of the Huskies’ Nov. 27 win over Hartford on the bench. It’s clear he hasn’t been showing much in practice and has fallen out of Hurley’s favor, but perhaps Thursday night gives him a reprieve.

Tahj my-hall: West Haven’s Tahj Eaddy, a senior grad transfer, is USC’s starting point guard. He’s averaging 12.7 points and a team-best 3.3 assists per game, shooting 45.5 percent from 3-point range, over USC’s first three games. Eaddy never played at Mohegan Sun while attending Notre Dame-West Haven for three years but has been in the building several times to watch games.

Eaddy grew up a UConn fan, rooting on the national championship teams of 2011 and 2014.

“It’s always fun to play great competition. They’re gonna be really talented this year,” he said of the Huskies, “so I’m excited for that battle.”
