SHU inks 11 in early signing period

Sacred Heart University received 11 national letters of intent on Wednesday.

“Our coaches have done an outstandin­g job of identifyin­g young men and families who fit into the SHU way,” Sacred Heart coach Mark Norfi said in a release. “Our culture and the developmen­t of our student-athletes have played a huge part in our success and we feel these student-athletes were a perfect fit for SHU and the football program. We can’t wait to get them enrolled at SHU and start working with them on campus.”

This year’s class is made up of three offensive linemen, three defensive backs, two defensive linemen along with a quarterbac­k, running back and a tight end.

The newest Pioneers for the fall of 2021:

JAVIN ADDERLEY, DB, 5-11, 170, FAYETTEVIL­LE, NJ

First-Team All-Region & All-County as senior. Helped Sanddy Creek High reach state semifinals as junior.

JORDAN CAMPBELL, DB, 5-8, 180, UNION, NJ

Helped lead St. Peter’s to back-to-back state titles. Fourth member of family to play college football. Second-team All-State.

MICHAEL COFFEY, TE, 6-4, 240, WILTON

Second-Team All-FCIAC in 2019 after helping Wilton to first state playoff appearance in 26 years.

BRODY COLBERT, DB, 5-9, 185, WILLIAMSTO­WN, NJ

Named South Jersey Times Defensive Player of the Year. Also plays baseball and wrestles.

JOSEPH DIXON II, RB, 5-10, 175, NIAGARA FALLS, NY

Ranked third in the state of New York. Ran for 17 TDs as junior. Father played for University of Buffalo.

BLAISE HESHLER, OL, 6-5, 295, HARRISBURG, PA.

Earned Preseason All-PA recognitio­n his senior year. Team was 2019 state runner-up. 2019 PennLive All-Star offensive lineman.

AMIR JENKINS, QB, 6-3, 210, BALTIMORE, MD.

Was 25-4 as starting quarterbac­k. Threw for 712 yards with seven touchdowns his junior year.

TYREK KELLY, DE, 6-3, 240, DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD.

Ranked 17th in Maryland by MaxPreps

RYAN LAIN, OL, 6-3, 270, NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA.

Three-time All-League and All-County. Grandfathe­r Jack Klotz played offensive line for the New York Jets.

ETHAN RODRIGUEZ, DL, 6-1, 225. WEST NEW YORK, NJ

Helped lead St. Peter’s to back-to-back state championsh­ips with fellow signee Jordan Campbell. First-Team All-Super Football Conference honors.

JACOB WALTON, COATESVILL­E, PA. 6-4, 290 OL

Helped Coatesvill­e to the 2018 District 1 Championsh­ip and the runner-up spot in Eastern PA.
