Genevieve Weingrad, 99, beloved wife, mother, Grandma, Grammy and Gigi, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital Sunday night, March 28.

Born in Pottstown, PA, on Nov. 13, 1921, she is the daughter of Esther (Greenstein) Sicherman and Jacob Sicherman, the youngest of 11 children. She grew up in Bronx, NY, where she attended high school and worked as a sportswear buyer in Manhattan and Darien, CT. She had 3 children before her first marriage ended in divorce.

In 1961 she married the love of her life, Murray (Murph) Weingrad, a widower, moved to Stamford and adopted his two young children.

She and her family have been longtime members of Temple Sinai, where she served as president of the Sisterhood from 1963 – 1965 and was active in annual Mitzvah Days and many other volunteer activities. While living in Norwalk for a few years in the ‘70s, she and Murph sang in the Serendipit­y Chorus and were regulars at the Silver Star Diner.

She worked as a teacher’s aide at Stamford’s Hartt School and then for market research firm Leferman Associates in Stamford until she retired.

Gen was loved by an extended circle of family and friends who adored her sense of humor, joi de vivre, and loving and compassion­ate ear. She was a fashionist­a, a classy lady, a consummate hostess and cook, and played bridge, mahjong well into her 90s.

She was predecease­d by her parents and siblings, and her children; Linda Weintraub Stark, Nancy Weintraub Leferman, and Lewis Weintraub.

She is survived by her devoted husband, her daughters Jan Weingrad Smith and Deborah Weingrad and son-in-law Christophe­r Campbell, all of Norwalk; son-in-law Alan Stark (Jupiter, FL); grandchild­ren David Stark (Patty) of Pound Ridge, NY, Rebecca Stark Schwartz, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Lori Baden (Alan Rothenstre­ich) Randi Price (Craig), Marc Leferman (Susan), all of Stamford; Michelle Perry (Malik) of Dallas, TX, Matthew Campbell (Norwalk) and Rachel Campbell (Norwalk) and 12 great-grandchild­ren.

Funeral services Wednesday March 31 at Temple Sinai will be live streamed followed by interment at Beth El Cemetery. The family will announce shiva arrangemen­ts shortly.
