‘Uninformed mob’ trying to tear Columbus down
For those of us who have extensively studied the life and travels of Christopher Columbus, including information from his own journals and numerous contemporary writings, it became obvious very early on that the real, documented facts we presented in defending him were of no consequence to the uninformed mob trying to tear him down.
We realized that it has never, really been about Christopher Columbus; or about Thomas Jefferson; or Abraham Lincoln or numerous others of our great leaders, all of whom have been attacked all around the country. In his book “The War on History: The Conspiracy to Rewrite America’s Past,” Jarret Stepman posits that the goal of our enemies is to dismantle America by displacing and replacing its founders, discrediting them and discrediting our founding documents, the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution, basically calling our country illegitimate.
Removing Columbus Day and replacing it with Indigenous People’s Day is just one example of this. There is already a day, Aug. 9, proclaimed by the United Nations to celebrate them and we would all gladly join in celebrating on that day. Yet Oct. 12 is the day chosen for no other reason than it removes a significant part of American history. Oct. 12 celebrates the very day Columbus set foot in the New World, a feat that has been called “The most significant event in the history of our species” by a noted scholar. That is what we celebrate!
We all have to remember, every time we hear of this or something similar happening, that it is all done to discredit our country and we should all be vigilant to never let it happen here in Stamford. Parents, question your schools! Voters, question your elected officials or candidates. Ask what is being taught about our history and our Founders.
America may not be perfect but there are caravans of people who are risking everything they have each day to get here because they realize what America is.
