Maria Tamburro

Maria Tamburro, 81, wife of the late Orazio Tamburro of Darien, CT passed away peacefully on Friday, December 10, 2021 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer. She was born on February 28, 1940 in Settefrati, Italy, the daughter of the late Antonio and Theresa (Macari) Tamburro.

Maria worked part-time for the Darien Public School system for many years. She was a parishoner of St Thomas More Church, and a member of the La Madonna Di Canneto Society.

Maria will always be remembered for her endless storytelling and her infectious laugh. She loved to share her passion of Italian cooking with family and friends, making sure everyone were happy and well fed. Lastly, her grandchildren were the loves of her life and enjoyed spending time with them.

Maria is survived by her children Angela Colaluca (Michael) of Norwalk, CT, Jerry Tamburro (Sara) of Fairfield, CT; grandchildren Vincent, Alex, Maria and Luca. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Tamburro (Emily) of Toronto, Canada, brother-in-law Joseph DiCesare of Toronto, Canada, John Tamburro (Anna) of Darien, CT, sisterin-law Loreta Gianmaria (Alvaro) of Ottawa, Canada, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Maria was predeceased by her husband Orazio Tamburro,

parents Antonio and Theresa (Macari) Tamburro, brother Dominick Tamburro and his wife Felicita, sister Anna Socci and her husband Serafino, sister Orazia DiCesare; her in-laws Germano and Cornelia (Vitti) Tamburro, sister in law Michelina Casale and her husband Loreto.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 16th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 17th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien, CT. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT.
