Marcia Bernice Rothfeld Shiller died peacefully at her home in Stamford, CT on March 27, 2022.

Born to Sara and Saul Rothfeld, she grew up in NYC with her younger brother Bert. She graduated from NYU and received a Master’s in Education from Hofstra University. Marcia taught nursery school and moved on to teach 1st grade at Saw Mill Road School in Bellmore for 25 years. She was an avid volunteer, working for AHRC, an organizati­on that helps people with intellectu­al disabiliti­es, as well as Red Cross, Bennet Cancer Center, Literacy Volunteers, and others, including tutoring reading at the Hart School.

Marcia was preceded in death by her brother Bert and her husband Joe, to whom she was married for 60 years. She is survived by her children Barbara, Sam (Debra), and Linda (Bill); 6 grandchild­ren and seven great-grandchild­ren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Marvin (Annie), who earned a special place in her heart and her life.

A memorial service and celebratio­n of life will take place at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home at 2900 Summer Street In Stamford, CT at 10:30 a.m. March 30, 2022. Memories or notes may be sent to leopgallag­herstamfor­d.com.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to the wonderful extended family of healthcare providers, especially Maria Rodriguez and Pauline Hauser, and Hospice Nurse Meredith Schoff, who made it possible for Marcia to stay in her own home until her death.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marcia’s memory may be made to one of the organizati­ons working to aid Ukranians and refugees: Internatio­nal Rescue Committee, World Central Kitchen, Doctors without Borders, Red Cross Internatio­nal.
