STAMFORD — For the first time, Stamford Pride will recognize LGBTQ Pride Month with a slate of events throughout June.

The group, established in 2019, pushed its first-ever Pride events to a week in August last year because of COVID-19.

“We are incredibly excited and grateful to have the opportunity to work with our community partners and sponsors on several Pride events and activities this year,” said Chris Koutsovitis, the president of Stamford Pride, in a release. “Our hope is that by providing safe, friendly and fun programming for the community, we can continue to uphold our mission as a nonprofit organization that engages, inspires, supports and celebrates LGBTQ+ members and allies through initiatives that educate, connect and enrich our diverse community.”

The colors of the rainbow will light up the face of Old Town Hall beginning Wednesday night. The rainbow flag will be raised outside Stamford Government Center at noon the next day.

A “Rainbow Rave” for high school students will be held June 10 at The Stamford Hotel. Tickets cost $12 for the event, which will include music by a DJ, drag performances and a lip sync competition. A student ID from a Connecticut high school will be required to enter.

The following day, Stamford Pride will have a booth at Triangle Community Center’s Pride in the Park in Norwalk.

Harbor Point restaurant MEXiCUE will host a drag brunch on June 12. Miss Chevious, Frankie Cyanide, Robin Fierce, Xiomarie LaBeija and Midnight are set to perform. Tickets cost $20. Food and drinks will need to be paid for separately.

This month, Curtain Call is staging the musical “Disaster!” at the Kweskin Theatre . Proceeds from a performance on June 15 will go to Stamford Pride. Using the code “PRIDE” will knock $5 off the price of a ticket, which ranges from $20 to $35.

On June 16, a free exhibit called “The Art of Community” will open at the Ferguson Library downtown. The show, co-sponsored by the Stamford Art Association, “will examine how art can lift all voices in the community through engagement, awareness and support,” according to the library.

Then on June 22, Erin Kate Ryan will speak about her book, “Quantum Girl Theory: A Novel,” at the library.
