4 CT women’s lacrosse players part of North Carolina’s title run
Four former Connecticut high school girls lacrosse stars celebrated a national championship as members of the North Carolina women’s team on Memorial Day weekend.

tonbury play for the Tar Heels, who defeated Boston College 12-11 in the NCAA Div. I final in Baltimore on Saturday.
Trenchard, a starting defender, and Humphrey, a midfielder, both played in the final.
Humphrey scored a goal to put North Carolina ahead 10-9 with 11:04 remaining, and Trenchard, a graduate of Loomis Chaffee, had a ground ball and a
caused turnover.
Boston College tied it at 1:14 after Humphrey’s goal, but the Tar Heels scored the next two goals and went on to win by one.
Harden is a defender, and Forrest is a midfielder.
North Carolina, which has won three national titles, completed a 22-0 season and is the 11th unbeaten national champion in NCAA women’s lacrosse history.
Trenchard, a three-time All-American, started 18 games this season and had 23 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.
Humphrey played in all 22 games and had eight goals, five assists, three ground balls, seven caused turnovers and 10 draw controls.
In their first seasons at UNC, Harden played in six games and Forrest played in eight.
Harden and Humphrey have younger sisters who will play for North Carolina.
Kaleigh Harden, a New Canaan senior, signed her national letter of intent in the fall, and Chloe Humphery, a Darien junior, has verbally committed to UNC.
