The UConn women’s basketball team will get the chance to avenge its national championship loss to South Carolina this February.

After falling to the Gamecocks in April, the Huskies will host South Carolina as its final nonconference matchup of the 2022-23 season. South Carolina, which handed UConn its first loss in a national title game, highlights a 10-game nonconference slate announced Wednesday.

The schedule features seven teams which were ranked in the top 20 of last season’s NCAA Net Rankings: No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 NC State, No. 7 Texas, No. 12 Maryland, No. 15 Notre Dame, No. 19 Tennessee and No. 20 Princeton.

The Huskies’ season begins with four home games in the first three weeks of November before spending Thanksgiving and most of December on the road and at neutral sites. Because of scheduling delays brought on by the pandemic, UConn will begin three homeand-home series this season that were originally scheduled to be begin last season or the year prior (Maryland, NC State and Texas).

Home venue specifications, TV information and tip times have yet to be announced.

The first chance to see the Huskies in action is scheduled for Nov. 6 in an exhibition game against Kutztown in Connecticut.

UConn will then open the regular season four days later, hosting Northeastern on Nov. 10. The teams last met in 2009 and UConn leads the series 11-3.

The Huskies follow their season opener by hosting Texas on Nov. 14. UConn will conclude its twogame contract with the Longhorns when it travels to Austin, Texas in

the 2023-24 season. The teams’ series was supposed to start in the 2020-21 season but was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A rematch of last spring’s thrilling Elite Eight doubleovertime win over NC State will take place in Connecticut on Nov. 20 when UConn hosts the Wolfpack. The meeting begins a two-game series with NC State as the Huskies will travel to Raleigh, N.C. in 2023-24.

UConn will travel to its first away games of the season on Nov. 25 and 27 to play in the Phil Knight Legacy Tournament in Portland, Ore. The matchups of the bracket-style two-day tournament have yet to be released but the other teams competing in the tournament include Duke, Iowa and Oregon State.

The Huskies will stay on the road and travel to Notre Dame on Dec. 4. The matchup will serve as game two of a four-game contract as the series began last season in Storrs. UConn will host Norte Dame for a second time in the 2023-24 season before traveling to South Bend, Ind. in 2024-25.

In its first ever meeting with Princeton, the Huskies will host the Tigers on Dec. 8, welcoming back current Princeton head coach and former UConn standout Carla Berube.

UConn faces Maryland on the road on Dec. 11, beginning a home-and-home series that was originally intended to start in the 2020-21 season but was delayed due to the pandemic. The Huskies will host Maryland in the 2023-24 season.

A week later, UConn will return home to face Florida State in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase at Mohegan Sun on Dec. 18. The Huskies are 9-0 all time against the Seminoles.

The Huskies will also face Tennessee on the road as part of its non-conference schedule, although the date is still undetermined. This meeting will serve as game two of the teams’ two-game contract after UConn hosted the Lady Vols last season in Hartford.

UConn will then conclude its nonconference schedule by hosting reigning national champion South Carolina on Feb. 5. The two were scheduled to face off in Columbia, S.C. last season but that game was canceled due to scheduling conflicts and will be added to the end of the teams’ current contract.

The teams did meet in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament early last season, when South Carolina beat UConn 73-57.

UConn is next scheduled to travel to Columbia in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
