STAMFORD — A 56-year-old city man is accused of sexually assaulting an elementary schoolaged girl over the course of a year, according to his arrest warrant.

Servio Barros-Terreros, 56, was arrested on charges of firstdegree sexual assault, coercion and risk of injury to a minor for the alleged assault, police wrote in an arrest warrant.

Stamford police officer James Muhlbauer wrote in the warrant that police first learned of the alleged sexual misconduct on Dec. 27, 2022.

The girl had gone to the doctor complaining of stomach and vaginal pain; the doctor alerted the mother, who went to police, according to the warrant.

The now-10-year-old Stamford girl told authorities that a man she identified as Barros-Terreros had been sexually abusing her since she was 9 years old, the warrant said.

The girl told police she was “afraid she would get in trouble” if she did not comply with Barros-Terreros, the warrant said.

The alleged abuse happened inside of the girl’s home, according to the warrant. The girl’s mother told police that BarrosTerreros was familiar with the family, though not related, and she had just thought he “liked spending time, eating and playing with” the child, Muhlbauer wrote in the warrant.

Investigators searched the girl’s phone and found photos of Barros-Terreros, which Muhlbauer said were “out of place,” as well as 95 calls and 34 video chats over the course of nine months between the two on a popular communication app, according to the warrant. Muhlbauer wrote that investigators found 189 calls between Barros-Terreros and the 10-year-old in total.

Barros-Terreros is being held in lieu of a $750,000 bond. He is next expected to appear at the state Superior Court in Stamford on April 18.
