Games to watch
SMSA at Ellington, Tuesday, Jan. 9, 7 p.m.: It’s much too early to label any game a must-win, but this very well could have a big impact in deciding the NCCC regular-season champion. Ellington is undefeated and SMSA’s only loss was to Cheney Tech in three overtimes.
East Catholic vs. Christ The King (N.Y.) at Springfield College, Friday, Jan. 12, 2:45 p.m.: The last time East Catholic lost a basketball game was right here in the HoopHall Classic last January to St. Augustine (Calif.). It’s a 26-game winning streak heading into this week for the Eagles.
WCA at Crosby, Friday, Jan. 12, 7 p.m.: The best two teams in the NVL square off in the first of two regular-season matchups.
Windsor at Ridgefield, Saturday, Jan. 13, 6:30 p.m.: Third straight year these top-10 teams are playing a non-conference game. The two teams have won on the others’ home floor already..
Notre Dame-West Haven vs. Wilbur Cross at Floyd Little Athletic Center, Monday, Jan. 15, 4 p.m.: Notre Dame is trying for an unprecedented third straight undefeated season in the SCC. Governors one of the few teams that could derail that bid.
St. Bernard at Staples, Monday, Jan. 15, 7 p.m.: Rematch of last year’s CIAC Division II state championship game, won by St. Bernard. Both programs now in Division I.
