NEW CANAAN — A 23-year-old town man was arrested after he damaged and stole two luxury cars from a former employer, according to an arrest warrant.

Arlind Bajraktari was seen on security footage breaking into the Cross Street business by using a security code in the early hours Dec. 8, the warrant said.

Bajraktari then went into the business’ garage where a Ferrari and Porsche were parked and later was seen leaving the property in the Porsche, accordspray-painted ing to the warrant.

On Dec. 14, police received a call shortly after the owners found the Ferrari damaged and found the Porsche in a Stamford parking lot. The warrant said a friend called the owner informing them their Porsche was in a parking lot on Brookdale Road. When the owner picked up the Porsche from the parking lot, the dashboard flashed multiple warnings signifying the vehicle had several issues.

The warrant said the owner drove the car back to the garage when it was noticed the other car inside, the Ferrari, had been with profanities and vandalized.

Police spoke with the owners and employees, and looked through security footage and were able to positively identify Bajraktari as the suspect, the warrant said. It went on to say that Bajraktari had previous motor vehicle theft-related charges and had served jail time for them.

Nearly a month later, on Jan. 12, the warrant said Bajraktari was taken into police custody and his bail was set at $100,000.

Court records show Bajraktari remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court March 20.
