DELIVERY ROOM DRAMA

Baby jitters are beginning to overwhelm the engaged couple.

aty Perry and Orlando Bloom had a sweet home-birth plan in place for welcoming their first child together — but then reality sank in. For starters, Covid-19 turned their Zen-like abode into a production facility, says a source, with the American Idol star shooting the competition show while sheltering in place. “They hoped for a drug-free home birth with their families present,” the source tells Star, but now “they’ve resigned themselves to having a conventional hospital birth.”

That doesn’t mean Katy — a selfdescribed “control freak,” who opened up during a recent interview about how difficult it’s been being pregnant during a pandemic — is happy about it. As the 35-year-old approaches her due date, she’s still butting heads with Orlando over the small stuff, like who she wants in the delivery room and whether she wants music playing. “She’s not only stressing herself out,” says a friend, “but she’s making everyone else around her crazy.”

Already dad to 9-year-old son Flynn, with ex Miranda Kerr, the Carnival Row actor, 43, knows when to give in to the first-time mom-to-be: “Calm is what they need, and Orlando doesn’t want Katy bothered any more than she has been,” says a source. With parenthood imminent, says the source, they’re learning to stop squabbling and accept that things won’t always go according to plan. Quips the first friend, “They can leave the more experimental ideas for the second pregnancy!"
