MSU student, alumna named Fulbright finalists
Two from Mississippi State University have been named Fulbright finalists.
Andrew House, a senior wildlife, fisheries and aquaculture and biochemistry double major from Kennedy, Alabama and 2016 sociology alumna Bailey Bullock were both named finalist and will be given the opportunity to study abroad at foreign universities with programs in their respective fields.
House will begin doctoral work at the University of Turku in Turku, Finland, studying fish genomics focusing primarily
on the Atlantic salmon. Bullock plans to study at the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program in Colombia, where she will serve as a teaching assistant in English courses at a university.
“The support from the university is the main reason I applied for a Fulbright,” House said. “I’ve been placed in very diverse situations, which have allowed me to expand my views. MSU has provided opportunities that have bettered me as a researcher and as a person.”
Bullock holds a certificate in teaching English as a second language, and has presented research on bilingual identity at the MSU Undergraduate Research Symposium in 2015.
