West Elementary School MAP/ MKAS2 Test Pep Rally
West Elementary School held the Mississippi Assessment Program (MAP)/MKAS2 Kindergarten Readiness Assessment Pep Rally Tuesday. The rally created excitement and relieved test anxiety regarding the upcoming state standardized tests. The overall goal was to make test-taking an enjoyable event and encourage students to do their very best.
The K-5 grade students entered and exited the pep rally to a theme song. They were greeted by the Starkville High School Athletic Department coaches, players, and cheerleaders. Coach Kristy Williams, SHS girls’ basketball coach, and Jordan Temple, SHS boys’ basketball player, were the guest speakers. The SHS cheerleaders added excitement to the pep rally by performing two cheers for the staff and students.
During the program, each grade created and shared encouraging and motivational chats and participated in a free throw competition with the SHS basketball players. This special event concluded with students exiting the gym through a tunnel formed by the SHS players and cheerleaders. The uplifting theme of “Ace the State Tests” was a challenge they excitedly embraced as they look forward to the tests.
