The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announceme­nts should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkville­dailynews. com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publicatio­n and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Rotary — The Starkville Rotary Club meets at 11:45 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club

◆ Free Country Line Dancing — Classes every Monday at the Travis Outlaw Center on Lynn Lane in Starkville. An advanced class is held at noon, and a beginner class is held at 1 p.m. Men and women are welcome to participat­e. Come have fun

◆ Civitan Club — The Civitan Club will meet May 1 at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s at noon

◆ Friends of Library Monthly Book Sale — The Starkville Public Library FOL monthly book sale will be May 1, Noon-6:00 pm. Fiction and nonfiction books in both hard cover and paperback, children’s books, vintage books, and reference are all available at nominal prices, with most books priced 50 cents to $3. A special collection of ‘older’ books are available at varying prices

◆ Spring Revival — The Light Outreach of Holiness Temple will have a Spring Revival and the public is invited. On May 1 through May 5 at 7 p.m. nightly. The speaker will be our own pastor Apostle Betty Davis and Evangelist Kathy Garrett from Assembly in Jesus Christ West Point MS. Come expecting. ◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — P arkerMcGil­l will have Brigade FMX (Freestyle Motorcross Extreme) at the dealership signing autographs on April 28 and preforming 4 stunt shows on April 29. We will have free food as well. The food will be an ongoing thing every weekend and we are calling it “On the Grill at Parker-McGill”

◆ Vet School Yard Sale — The senior class at Mississipp­i state vet school will be having a moving, clean house, a little bit of everything yard sale. It will be at the wise center (vet school), 240 Wise Center Drive, April 29th 8-2pm. The entire parking lot will be blocked off of people to set up for the yard sale

◆ DAR Luncheon — The DAR Luncheon will be held May 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club. Reservatio­ns are required and the cost is $20

◆ 48th Annual Freedom Awards Banquet — The Officer of the NAACP Oktibbeha County Branch will host the 48th Annual Freedom Awards Banquet May 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Travis Outlaw Center.
