SCOOBA – Set to make their eighth postseason softball appearance in the last nine years, the Lions of East Mississippi Community College will travel to Fulton this weekend to take on nationally sixth-ranked Itawamba Community College in an MACJC best-of-three playoff series. First pitch for today’s single game is set for 5 p.m. at the newly renovated ICC Softball Complex.

Saturday’s playoff action in Fulton will begin at 1 p.m. with a third and deciding game to follow, if necessary. The winners of this weekend’s four best-of-three playoff series will advance to play in next weekend’s (May 5-7) MACJC State Softball Tournament at a site to be determined. The other best-of-three softball playoff series will have topseeded Jones County playing host to No. 8 seed Southwest Mississippi, seventh-seeded Northeast Mississippi traveling to No. 2 seed Mississippi Gulf Coast, and No. 4 seed East Central hosting fifth-seeded Northwest Mississippi. The EMCC-ICC series will be live-streamed at LetsGoICCTV. com/RED.

Guided by fifth-year head softball coach Kyndall White, the EMCC Lions earned the No. 6 seed within the MACJC standings with a 15-13 conference mark and 18-25 overall record. Earlier this month (April 11) in Scooba, visiting ICC claimed 10-4 and 5-4 wins over the Lions. EMCC concluded regular-season play this past Sunday by dropping a pair of Sophomore Day decisions, 5-1 and 8-0, to seventhranked Mississippi Gulf Coast in Scooba.

The ICC Indians claimed the No. 3 MACJC playoff seed after going 23-5 in conference play and posting an overall record of 36-10-1 during the regular season.
