AROUND TOWN ANNOUNCEMENT POLICIES
The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run in Around Town on Sundays only. One-time events will run as usual in Around Town Monday through Friday.

◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.
◆ DAR Luncheon — The DAR Luncheon will be held May 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club. Reservations are required and the cost is $20
◆ Starkville Strings School Violin Recital — Starkville Strings School presents a violin recital by Katie Chung, 8, and Ms. Sarah Jenkins, piano, on May 6th, at 3:30 PM, at Giles Auditorium (Architecture Building) on the MSU campus. ◆ 48th Annual Freedom Awards Banquet — The Officer of the NAACP Oktibbeha County Branch will host the 48th Annual Freedom Awards Banquet May 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Travis Outlaw Center. ◆ Tiaze Service Cancelled for Organ Dedication — The Taizé Service held at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection has been cancelled for May 7. The Episcopal Church will have, instead, a concert to dedicate the new organ at 6:00 p.m. on May 7. The concert will feature Walt Strony, one of America’s premier concert organists. Admission is free and all are invited

Scholarship — The Peter’s Rock Temple Church of God in Christ will recognize Scholarship recipients on May 7 at 11am. The mission is to provide financial assistance and encouragement to members and the community in pursing higher educational goals. First, second, and third place recipients will receive a scholarship to the college or university of their choice

◆ Walking Trail—Adaton United Methodist Church has established a quarter-mile walking/jogging trail near the church, located at 303 Reed Road., West-Starkville. The path is accessible daily from dawn to dusk. No pets or wheeled vehicles allowed on the trail
◆ Prayers with the Songs of Taize—Prayers with the Songs of Taizé is held at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection the first Sunday of each month at 6 p.m. The service includes candlelight, singing, prayers, readings, periods of silence, and lasts about 45 minutes
◆ Starkville Healing Rooms—Starkville Healing Rooms meets from 6:308:30 p.m. on Mondays at the Sportsplex.
