The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announceme­nts should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkville­dailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publicatio­n and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Homestead Education Center Sustainabl­e Sunday — On May May 14th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., John Cromer, Mississipp­i's first certified NABCEP PV Installer & solar design author/instructor, will lead a discussion of solar payback, utility policy, and ownership issues unique to Mississipp­i. Batteries and commercial payback will also be discussed. Sustainabl­e Sundays are FREE and open to the public

◆ Summer Camp Registrati­on Open — Registrati­on open for our June/July 2017 summer camps at Starkville Academy. We will offer a variety of camps for students of all ages and skill levels. You can download a full list of our camps at starkville­academy.org and may register online or download forms. ◆ Free Computer Class — Emerson Family Resource Center will hold the class from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

◆ Rotary — The Starkville Rotary Club meets at 11:45 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club

◆ Free Country Line Dancing — Classes every Monday at the Travis Outlaw Center on Lynn Lane in Starkville. An advanced class is held at noon, and a beginner class is held at 1 p.m. Men and women are welcome to participat­e. Come have fun

◆ Civitan Club — The Starkville Civitan Club will meet May 15 at noon at Beef ‘O' Brady's. Guest speaker will be Ms. Julie Jones from SOC School District

◆ Kiwanis Meeting — Starkville Kiwanis Club will only meet the first and third Tuesdays of each month through August. Weekly meetings will resume in September

◆ Master Gardeners Meeting — The Oktibbeha County Master Gardeners, including new interns, will meet at the county Extension Office May 11 at 10 a.m. A program on Pollinator­s in the Garden will be presented by Margaret Copeland and Dianne Patterson. A business session will follow the program

◆ Chik-fil-A Chicken Tiki Luau — Third Annual Chicken Tiki Luau will be held at Chick-fil-A Starkville to celebrate the end of another school year on Thursday, May 11, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The free community event will feature performanc­es by the Heavenly Metal of the South, the steel drum band from First United Methodist Church

◆ Book Signing — On May 11, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Book Mart on Main Street will host a book signing for authors Charline R. McCord and Judy H. Tucker for their book “A Year in Mississipp­i”

◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church

◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrecti­on hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.
