The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@ starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Homestead Education Center Sustainable Sunday — On May May 14th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., John Cromer, Mississippi’s first certified NABCEP PV Installer & solar design author/ instructor, will lead a discussion of solar payback, utility policy, and ownership issues unique to Mississippi. Batteries and commercial payback will also be discussed. Sustainable Sundays are FREE and open to the public
◆ Summer Camp Registration Open — Registration open for our June/ July 2017 summer camps at Starkville Academy. We will offer a variety of camps for students of all ages and skill levels. ◆ Free Basic Computer Class — On May 1, 15 & 22 Adults are invited to gain knowledge while working spreadsheets, modify columns, rows & cells, creating simple formulas, manipulating data, sorting and filtering. Classes will be held at Emerson Family School from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. and Hakran Kim will be Instructor.
◆ Rotary — The Starkville Rotary Club meets at 11:45 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club
◆ Free Country Line Dancing — Classes every Monday at the Travis Outlaw Center on Lynn Lane in Starkville. An advanced class is held at noon, and a beginner class is held at 1 p.m. Men and women are welcome to participate. Come have fun
◆ Civitan Club — The Starkville Civitan Club will meet May 15 at noon at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s. Guest speaker will be Ms. Julie Jones from SOC School District
◆ Mississippi State School of Ministryy — The school will be taking applications for enrollment for the Spring semester until May
