Discouragement can be a real deterrent to many people. Many of us allow the slightest disparaging word or statement to take us backward in whatever it is we are trying to accomplish.

There is a statement that says: “Don't’ be discouraged: everyone who got where he is, started where he was.”

I am reminded about Job and the difficulties that he faced in his lifetime. Job was God’s man and was greatly rewarded for his love and desire to do what the Lord wanted him to do. God was so pleased and confident in Job that He allowed Satan to test Job in many ways with the exception that Satan could not take Job’s life.

Satan took away Job’s wealth, his family, his health, and his possessions. It became so ugly that his wife and friends told Job to curse God and die, but Job would not and his trust in the Lord never wavered.

In the end Job was restored to his good life on earth because he was obedient to God and did not let anyone on earth influence him in ways that would undermine his desire to please and love for the Lord.

There are many on this earth today that will tell you that life is what you make it. In many ways they are correct, however it is not the life on this earth that we should be concerned about, it is about eternity we want to live with Jesus.

Where we are today will take us to where we are going to be tomorrow. If tomorrow never comes, where are we going to be?

Living a life that is guided by the Lord Jesus Christ will take us from where we are today to an eternal home free from any strife or worry. We will be at peace and live in harmony with all the believers that have gone before us and the ones that will come behind us.

Live today as if it were your last. Live it in a way that pleases the Lord and not the world and your rewards will be far greater than what you can accomplish by yourself.

Prayer: Father thank you for another day on this earth. I pray that whatever I do and say that it will glorify and praise You. Amen.
