Track and Field

-

Following a stellar season that saw the Bulldog women’s track and field program qualify for Nationals in all three portions of the schedule for the first time in school history, Mississippi State earned its first finish inside the USTFCCCA’s Program of the Year standings with a No. 10 overall ranking.

In order to be eligible for the ranking, teams must qualify for each of the NCAA Championships. Scoring is based on the team’s finish at those meets (1st = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points, etc.) and the team with the lowest combined score is crowned

champion. The women posted a combined score of 77.5 points after finishing the cross country season a program best 15th, the indoor season 21st and the outdoor campaign 38th. Rhianwedd Price, Logan Boss and Tiffany Flynn all earned All-America honors on multiple occasions throughout the 2016-17 season,

with Boss and Flynn taking home first team honors during the indoor and outdoor campaigns and Price earning first team cross country honors and second team outdoor accolades.

“I am so incredibly proud of what our women have accomplished this season,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “Although we didn’t finish as high during the outdoor campaign as we would have liked, this was still one of the most consistent overall season’s we have had in the history of our program, and that is something we can build on moving forward. I am excited about where we are headed.”
