CONWAY — After a collegiate career in which she scored more than 1,600 points, was a 3-time All-Southland Conference performer and twice led her team to the NCAA tournament and back-to-back Southland tournament championships, including being named tournament Most Valuable Player this year, former Starkville Academy player Maggie Proffitt decided she still had some basketball left to play.

Though her time in a Sugar Bear uniform is done, Proffitt, who is the 2nd-leading scorer and career 3-point leader in Central Arkansas Division-I era, will continue her playing career as a professional, having signed with Scorers 1st Sportmanagement and player representative EJ Siderius to aide in exploring pro opportunities abroad.

“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to get to continue my playing career overseas,” said Proffitt, a 3-time Southland All-Academic selection who will graduate next week. “It's been a bit of a stressful process, but EJ Siderius has done a great job of making me feel comfortable as we go through it, and I know I'm in good hands when it comes to finding a team. I've had an amazing four years at UCA and we've accomplished a great amount. My college career was a great experience and I am excited and anxious to continue playing at the next level. I've loved getting to play on great teams for amazing fans here and would like to thank everyone who has supported me along the way.”

Proffitt joins the Scorers 1st family of clients that features more than 40 men and women playing professionally throughout Europe and in the NBA Development League. She will be represented by Siderius, a FIBA-certified agent who has been with Scorers 1st since 2006.

Proffitt was part of head coach Sandra Rushing's first full recruiting class at Central Arkansas, a group that won 89 games and break many records individually and collectively during their time in a Sugar Bear uniform.
