Michael Jason Campbell 41 of Sturgis, MS passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017.

Born January 2, 1976 in Dallas, TX he was the son of Linda Chastain (Bill) White of Indianola, OK and Michael Kent Campbell of Farmington, NM.

Michael was an Army Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division and an Iraq and Afghanista­n combat veteran. His decoration and citations include Army Commendati­on Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmansh­ip Badge with Rifle Bar, Combat Infantryma­n Badge, Parachutis­t Badge, Bronze German Armed Forces Parachutis­t Badge. He was instrument­al in the creation of Student Veterans of America (SVA) and was an advocate for all veterans. He was a self-employed Land Manager, Registered Forester, and Certified Pipefitter and Welder.

Surviving Michael include his wife, Ryann S. Campbell of Sturgis, MS; mother Linda White and husband Bill of Indianola, OK; father, Michael Kent Campbell of Farmington, NM; sister Kari Nichole Campbell Garrett and husband John of Buckhead, GA; stepbrothe­r, Jeremy Owen White of McAlester, OK, stepsister Jessica White of Krebs, OK, maternal grandmothe­r, Loise Chastain of Charleston, AR.

A memorial service for Michael will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS.
