The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Casserole Kitchen — The First Presbyterian Church a casserole kitchen every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
◆ Tai Chi Classes — The Wellness Connection at OCH Regional Medical Center will offer an eightweek Tai Chi course on Tuesdays beginning July 11 from 5:15 – 6:45 p.m. to August 29. ◆ Free Health Screenings — The J.L. King Center is hosting free health screenings on July 20 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The screening will include blood pressure, weight, height and blood sugar for children, adults and families. For more information, call 662320-4607

◆ Book Signing Event — Emmy-winning Disney artist/animator and children’s book author Andy Harkness will speak a the Starkville Public Library July 21, at 10:00 a.m. A graduate of Starkville High School, Andy was the animation director for the hit movie “Moana.” His presentation is designed to appeal to all ages. A book signing will follow the talk
◆ Minor Family Reunion — The 2nd family reunion celebration in Saint Louis, MO., will be July 28. We hope to honor the past and create new memories in the spirit of James “Gene” Minor and Bessie Outlaw Minor of Starkville. We invite family and friends to celebrate. ◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.
◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-McGill staff
◆ Book Signing Bash — The Book Mart and Cafe on Main Street is planning a book signing party at 10 a.m. on July 22. Disney Animator Andy Harkness will be reading his book “Bug Zoo” and signing copies. There will be bug-themed crafts, face painting, games and refreshments. Kids are encouraged to wear bug/insect costumes
◆ Veterans Administration Seminar — Montgomery Gardens Assisted Living will host a free seminar on July 29 at 10 a.m. for WWII, Korean War and Vietnam wartime veterans, spouses and caregivers discussing the Veterans Administration aid and benefits. For more information call 662-268-4521
◆ Back to School Bash — Clothing Ministry in Rock Hill Community will host a back to school bash July 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parents must bring their children with them to pick up uniforms and supplies at Rock Hill United Methodist Church.
