Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home, with the funeral service immediatel­y following. Chaplain Melvin Mordecai will conduct the service. Burial will be in Wake Forest Cemetery in Sturgis, MS.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.

A celebratio­n of life will be held at Lake Kiowa TX on a date TBA. Friends and family will be notified at a later date. Final arrangemen­ts are being handled by Welch Funeral Home in Starkville.

Marcia was born in Ottawa KS on October 14, 1948. She graduated from Ottawa High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Business Administra­tion from Emporia State University. Marcia was a member of Gainesvill­e Bible Church in Texas.

Marcia was married to Michael Hammond, PGA Head Profession­al at MSU Golf Course on May 24, 1990 in Garden City KS; they were married 27 years. They spent 2 years in Little Rock AR, 14 years in Winfield KS, 9 years in Lake Kiowa TX and most recently Starkville MS.

Marcia was retired, but loved her parttime job at Lake Kiowa Pro Shop. Marcia enjoyed playing golf with her friends and husband, she also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and most recently Facebook.

Marcia is survived by her husband Mike, daughter Somer Patterson from Starkville, brother Richard (wife) Mary Allen from Topeka KS, three nephews and other family and many friends.

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents Marshall & Minnie Allen Ottawa KS and brother Robert Allen Omaha NE.
