SSA registration continues

-

Registration for the 2017-18 Starkville Soccer Association season is now open.

There are changes in our recreation program for the upcoming year. The rec soccer season will consist of a fall only season. There will be a 12-game schedule beginning with practice starting the week of August 28. Games will begin the week of Sept. 18. The rec season will conclude on Saturday, Nov. 18. Games will be played on four Saturdays throughout the season.

SSA will have its 40th year anniversary celebration on Saturday, Sept. 23 with a day of soccer and events for all our soccer programs.

The other tentative Saturdays for games is Sept. 30 and Oct. 28. There will not be any games or practices scheduled during schools’ fall break or on Halloween.

SSA believes the kids need more practice time throughout the season. In the past there have been only practices before the season started. This year more practice days will be implemented throughout the season. To help out coaches, coach Phil Rose has planned to have a couple of coaching clinics for rec coaches throughout the season. The same playing/practices days will continue as in the past. Girls will be on Monday/Thursday and boys will be on Tuesday/ Thursday.

For those interesting in playing soccer in the spring, players will still have the opportunity for spring soccer. Rec soccer academy will be introduced for the spring. This program will be run similar to IFC academy that exists now. The format will be training as a group the first part of practice then breaking into teams to play games to finish the training session. There is no tournament travel involved with the rec academy. There will be a small fee for those that choose to participate in the rec academy. The fee will cover the price of the rec academy training t shirt.

The members of SSA are excited about the changes that are going to take place in the rec program this year.

Registration is now open. Please login to your account at starkvillesoccer.com now to registrar for a discounted price until August 1.
