Schaefer to speak at fundraiser

Mississipp­i State head women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer will be the guest speaker at the Sports Talk Charity Fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Golden Triangle (Starkville/Columbus).

The dinner event will be held Tuesday, Aug. 22. Doors open at 6 p.m. with a silent auction at The Mill of Starkville.

In just four seasons, Schaefer has put the MSU women's basketball team among the nation's top programs. Finishing its last season second in the nation, Schaefer has turned the Bulldogs into a championsh­ip program.

“We are honored to have coach Schaefer as our guest speaker for this exciting upcoming Sports Talk event and we invite the Bulldog fan base to come out and support the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Golden Triangle,” said Nadia Colom, executive director, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Golden Triangle. “It is with your participat­ion that this event will be a true success for the youth of our community.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Golden Triangle serves close to 400 children yearly with 120 on a daily basis. Children have a safe place go to after school and during the summer to participat­e in education, art, recreation, health and character building activities.
